Do all black jeans fade at the knees within a couple of months??

I bought a pair about 2 months ago, as I started my new job (nursery TA where I already worked), and they're already fading at the knees 🙄

I wondered if it's worth me trying some from elsewhere, or if they'll all likely do the same? These are Primark £10 super high waist skinnies, if that makes a difference.

Paige ones don’t, I bought mine for £60 on eBay and they’re worth the extra money. They don’t get baggy either

Hi, I also work in early years and I go through black jeans like tea bags! They always go white at the knees due to the nature of our job, kneeling, crawling and bending down. Watching with interest, In the past I would dye them using dDylon, but they never look right and it's a hassle.

Being with kids, do you spend time on your knees playing? If so yes any jeans would wear

lucysmam · 19/03/2022 20:19

@eatsleeplaugh I suspected as much! I usually go for dark indigo but thought black would be smarter for school 🙄

I cba to faff with dylon for just one pair & expect the knees might look patchy with them being so much lighter than the rest already.

Maybe I'll just wear them until they're really not smart enough then replace with another pair of the same.

New look jeans are amazing. Better than even really expensive high end brands. I’m wearing their high waist super skinny black jeans now with boots and tons of wear but no fading at all. New look is pretty patchy but my secret Jean place.

I’ve never had a pair of black primark skinnies fade at the knees and I’m a pretty hard on mine as I wear them at the stables.

I suspect it’s your job rather than the jeans so probably not worth investing in an expensive pair.

I live (or rather work) in black high waisted skinny newlook jeans. Admittedly my job doesn't require being on my knees too much but I do spend my evenings on the floor playing with DS and they are all still fine.

Dylon is really straightforward nowadays. You can buy a sachet for one pair of black jeans and it’s only about £2.shrove the sachet contents and jeans in the machine and that’s it. I wash black jeans on a cool wash inside out and they are less likely to fade.
