Weekend fun meal ideas

Trying to cut back a bit on the spending. We usually go out for tea on a Friday or Saturday night but I want to reduce this to once a month. We are a family of 4, 2 primary age kids.

I feel like we are a bit stuck in a rut with meals and would like to find some ideas for weekend meals that feel a bit more fun than the usual weekday fare of bolognaise, soup, veggie burgers etc.

So far I've come up with tacos! Anyone have any ideas for weekend meals that will replace going out?

mine also love Paella. The Picard type, frozen, is £5 a bag of 900g and we add left over chicken or pork, peas, peppers and other veg as availablr, to use up stuff nd make it go further, very handy.
