Am I missing something here? Octopus energy.

We are with octopus and our fixed rate ends soon. They’ve sent us an email with options. Obviously like everyone else I am dreading the hike in energy prices and want to do the best thing in terms of variable / fixed rate.

But they’ve sent me this … pic attached. Why would anyone choose to fix at those prices? I understand the variable rate may go up but is it really likely to go higher than the horrendous fixed rate options?

I’m best just to stick with variable, aren’t I?

just as an example of why you should keep checking for deals, since I typed my last post, the fixed rates offered me have dropped to 48.11p/kwh for electricity and 14.99p/kwh for gas

@Ecosralayce you are so right! They offered me a 10 month fix of 285 last week.

Just checked again and 10 month fix is now 249. The standing charge is much cheaper than the svr for electricity but the daily rate per kWh is a lot more expensive. Defo worth keeping my eye on this though.
