I know it's not a song exactly, but the Pink documentary is so uplifting and reminds you that women are total rockstars even minus the music career... hope your DD is OK Flowers

Don't Give Up - Sinead O'Connor and Willie Nelson
This Woman's Work - Kate Bush

Big fan of The Bangles too, especially Following but that's not so cheerful!

I Get Along by the Libertines has the most perfect lyric in the middle:

I get along, just singing my song
People tell me I'm wrong
...
Fuck 'em.

Spudina · 16/03/2022 10:00

I just bought Shakespeare’s Sister Hormonally Yours. I loved it in the 90s. My girls love “I don’t care” (I don’t care if you talk about me, I don’t care if you write it out in stone, whenever I fall I land on my feet) And I second Alanis.

AnotherEmma · 16/03/2022 10:10

Depends what she likes. At that age I loved Muse and Nirvana (still do when I'm in the mood).

FrazzledMCPremenopausalWoman · 16/03/2022 11:53

That's the one! I called it "Fuck You" because I couldn't remember its proper name

JosephineMarchingOnwards · 16/03/2022 14:36

Great thread! (commenting to place mark)

Not surprised to see lots of Alanis Morrisette - Jagged Little Pill album got me through my first divorce!

CheshireChat · 16/03/2022 14:44

If she likes metal, then
Halestorm- You call me a bitch like it's a bad thing
