Costco...worth it?

A friend has offered to take me next week. Its about 12 miles away.
She buys all sorts there like 6 months worth of loo roll etc
Is it worth the membership/trip?
What's the food like?

Buffalo mozzarella and artichokes in massive jars. I pretty much go for these but end up spending way over £100... may not extend the membership.

Individual membership is about £35, the trade one is a bit less.

@SkankingMopoke your words were

The only section I completely avoid now is the clothes

So how could you know whether there was anything worth buying in there if you avoid it completely?

ReadyToMoveIt · 16/03/2022 10:25

We love Costco but not sure it actually saves us any money!
We will only buy Costco bin liners, they’re far superior quality to any I’ve found in supermarkets. We also bulk buy washing powder, fabric softener and dishwasher tablets.
The Levi jeans mentioned upthread are fab, and they sometimes do good sportswear/leggings. Their sheepskin slippers are also great quality.
The steaks are good too!

Do you have skin in this? You seem overly riled.
FWIW, I've been a member for many many years, and went with my parents before that: over 25yrs of visits. There is a style to their clothes and shoes, as there always has been, which isn't mine. I'm not totally blind and do have to walk past the clothes - it's not so offensive I avert my eyes! I can see the brands on offer. Of course I do see clothing when it is included in the marketing emails too (usually it's the branded stuff like Uggs that are included in those), but I still have yet to spot anything that appeals. I'm not saying their clothing is crap, I'm not saying there aren't bargains to be had, and I didn't criticise anyone who likes their wares. I gave my experience that the clothes aren't for me save a few items which unfortunately weren't actually cheaper. Someone else criticised the cakes, perhaps you want to tell them they're wrong too as they haven't eaten one recently?

TigerLilyTail · 16/03/2022 13:34

I got a great winter coat from Costco. It was so cheap and so warm.

I also buy a lot of household stuff like laundry detergent and toilet paper. I love the muffins. I cut them in half and freeze them. The same with meat, portion it up and freeze it.

Don't forget to visit the food court on your way out!

I think your friend can take you in as a guest. I wouldn't get a membership unless you will visit a lot. I usually go once a month.

Riled? 😂
More baffled that someone can claim to dislike items in a section they avoid completely.

My boyfriend loves it - great value.

DB's best friend often goes to his nearest one - good value for essentials like toilet paper etc.
