Swimming after Highlights

Had highlighted yesterday for first time in ages and due to go swimming this evening. Will it ruin my hair, I swim 3-4 times a week and never even thought about this till someone made a passing comment?

don't do it

Holidayyys · 15/03/2022 13:56

Aaarghhh I was hoping this wasn't the answer. My body and scales will torture me for not going! How long do I have avoid the pool for?

I swim regularly with highlighted hair and it doesn't cause any problems.

I usually wait about 3/4 days after having it done before swimming.

I have this dilemma too. Quite new to bleach and am due to go swimming 2 weeks after new highlights. I’ve googled and it says it will go green.

Holidayyys · 15/03/2022 14:24

@AgathaX how soon after having them done do you swim?
@caulkheaded I may have to do this, I knew I should have tried to squeeze it in yesterday before I had them done.

When you do go smother your hair in leave in conditioner before you get in the pool. It will stop your hair absorbing as much chlorine

Mine goes a bit greenish with the chlorine, Boots Sun swim and Gym is pretty good, wash it at the pool not when you get home.

I attend aquafit classes and swim afterwards. I always wear a swim cap - it helps to protect my hair generally from the chlorine. My hair is also permed and so far it has never gone green.
