Anyone else poorly with this?!

I’ve felt absolutely awful for 4 days now, my glands are up, my kidneys ache, I have a permanent headache and it is literal agony to swallow, like I’m swallowing balls of fire every time. It’s keeping me up at night and I’m exhausted (new baby and toddler to look after). I can usually just plough on when I’m poorly but this is another level. Is there something rotten going round atm? Covid tests all negative so far. What is it and how do i get rid of it!

Tonsillitis or maybe glandular fever? You need to see a GP urgently both need antibiotics.

Sounds like an infection I had about ten years ago, like you I had a really sore throat and terrible kidney pain. Antibiotics from the GP sorted it out within a week. Hope you feel better soon. X

No tonsillitis is only sometimes bacterial, glandular fever is also a virus

Antibiotics do nothing for viruses and their use should be kept to a minimum anyway.

Op have you recently stopped mask wearing? Because they not only protect from corona but other winter illness too.

I'm usually a Martyr to my tonsils but not been bothered this year and I'm sure it's due to mask wearing so I plan to do so every winter from now on!

Difflam spray, good mouthwash 3 x a day, plenty of fluids and rest and paracetamol or aspirin for the fever
