What do you do when cleaner is working?

I find it so awkward when our cleaner is here. I try to have a few jobs lined up to do but often end up getting in her way or am trapped in the wrong room because the floors have been mopped.

How do you do when your cleaner visits?

I'm working so move out to another room when she wants to clean it.

If not working, I would probably go out after she got here returning before the time she's due to leave.

I’m working in my home office, which I don’t ask her to clean so it’s easy to stay out of the way.

She starts with the kitchen area, so I go out and do stuff/walk. When I come back she is in the rest of the house, so I'm not in her way.

Go to the office for the day. During lockdown I went out for a long lunch. Worst case scenario (cafes not allowed to open + rain) sat in the car and ate sandwiches.

Sit in kitchen when she does lounge first, then lounge when she does kitchen (we have 2 cleaners, the other does upstairs/landing and stairs.

Half the time we're chatting as they work anyway, they're lovely!

Can't go out while they're here as I'm disabled.

I completely understand this!!

My old cleaners would come whilst I was at work. I'd check the Ring doorbell app on my way home and if they were still there I would get a coffee and cake and park up with it until they had gone.

It's a strange feeling not being comfortable to go to my own home.

Why do you find it so awkward? I am at work in my study which she doesn’t clean, but I can’t imagine feeling that uncomfortable that I would sit in my car until they’d gone,

I can't explain fully why it makes me feel awkward. Usually I'm busily getting on with things but as soon as the cleaner comes I can't seem to find suitable things to get on with. Anything I start to do seems to get in her way.

Oh god, makes me so awkward too!

My house isn’t that big so if I’m not in the home office working I go out.
