Lowestoft local?

If you know Lowestoft well, is it possible to get close to Pleasurewood Hills by boat?

We're hiring a boat on the Broads and would like a day out in Pleasurewood Hills if we can moor up not too far away.

By not too far away are you thinking walking distance or somewhere you could catch a bus?

FurbleSocks · 14/03/2022 17:30

Walking distance ideally. My dad can't walk too far these days.

There isn't really anything in a short walk. I'd say your nearest mooring would be Oulton Broad but you're about 3-4 miles out (depending where you moor). I'm guessing that's not manageable for your dad so you'd need a taxi or a bus. There aren't any buses to PH itself AFAIK so you'd need one to Corton Road and walk the last bit. That would take about 1h15m. I'd go for a taxi.

The broad goes past Somerleyton which doesn't have a bus but is a similar distance from PH by taxi if you are staying there.

There's also a bus which stops at Tesco on Yarmouth Road, it's about a 10 minute walk from there.

Thank you! I think we might just Uber if 3-4 miles is the closest. Can stop off at Tesco and fill up for the boat.
