Semantle thread 3 is almost full and we don't seem to be running out of steam, so here's a nice new shiny thread for those, like me, who are mad enough to start the new game at Midnight.

The game of Semantle can be found by folowing this link. It's a word game like Wordle in that you need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

We tend to use the threads to rant about how we're getting nowhere, celebrate our successes and laugh about the previous day's top 1000 but please, no spoilers. Subtle hints only here; use DMs for more obvious clues.

I find it really interesting how there seems to be a general thing that some words are easier to get than others despite none of the words being “hard”. Manager for example is a word we all know, and yesterday’s word too. But many people found one or the other of those incredibly hard to get to. Not sure whether it’s because a word like yesterday’s is very specific or what.

I find it really interesting how there seems to be a general thing that some words are easier to get than others despite none of the words being “hard”. Manager for example is a word we all know, and yesterday’s word too. But many people found one or the other of those incredibly hard to get to. Not sure whether it’s because a word like yesterday’s is very specific or what.

I wonder if its partly psychological, thinking you have already dismissed the obvious? I got a four letter word used interchangeably with the answer quite early on in a particular context. It took me ages to realise I hadn't tried the answer!

Hmm, looking at the word list, I went down a different route to the obvious.
I think some words can lead you on a wild goose chase.

Feeling smug until I saw some of these scores^^.
My seventh guess was word 992 but it took a while after that.

I got 992 on guess 4, and have spent the next 20+ guesses getting increasingly colder and more frustrated. I don’t think I’m getting any better or understanding the game any more than at the start, some days I just fluke it better than others!

Looking at the list of words I came to it from a completely different angle!

I started from a different angle but fortunately some of my guesses applied to either thing.

I got it quickly today. I got 904 on my first guess as I happened to be near one!
