Yorkshire Dales

We're off to the Yorkshire Dales soon and are staying in-between Ingleton Waterfall Trail and Aysgarth Falls. Has anyone been to either or both? Are either worth the visit? Many thanks.

We visited Aysgarth Falls and it's a nice place to spend a few hours, read a book and have a picnic. There are stepping stones across the river so take wellies or water shoes if you want to walk across. Our boys loved it too!

We've been to Ingleton Falls many times. I'd recommend it. Plenty of spots for picnics, including a cafe about half way. I can't recall the price but it's worth it and you can tell a lot of cash has been spent on the trail.

Sounds like we can't go wrong with either! @jamfirstcreamsecond are there toilets at the start and/or cafe?

From memory, and bear in mind I last went when there were still some restrictions, there was a coffee shop at the start and toilets. These are at the beginning of the trail but I can't recall if they're before you go through the turnstiles or not. There is definately another coffee shop about half way round with toilets. As part of your entry fee you get a map so all toilets will be marked on there. You may even be able to download it online

Yep, the leaflet is online www.ingletonwaterfallstrail.co.uk/information#leaflet

Thank you so much! Don't know how I didn't come across that!

Aysgarth falls is beautiful as is hardrow force too near hawes. Hawes and leyburn are lovely market towns to wander around. Kettlewell nice too.
We went last year with 2 teenagers and did lots of nice circular walks incorporating a pub lunch!

Sosigsandwich · 13/03/2022 17:08

@Whitegrenache Do you of any circular routes directly from Hawes?

Yes there is one which goes up to hardrow force and near to the posh hotel (Simon side hall!) I'll see if I can find it

Both are great, Asgarth Falls feature in the old Kevin Costner version of Robin Hood.

Other places worth visiting - Ribblehead Viaduct, White Scar caves, the train ride from Settle to Appleby has great views, Malham Cove and millons of great tea rooms

Hardraw force is the water fall used in the shower scene in Robin Hood prince of thieves ( naked Kevin Costner)

Ingleton falls is well worth a visit last time we went yes the main cafe is before you go through the turnstile and toilets there too, last time we went just before lockdown it was a fiver for a car, mallam cove is georgous worth the trip up the steps to the view at the top, pretty little village with a duck pond, hawes has the wenslydale cheese factory and the shop is amazing every cheese they make, Settle whilst a bit of a way from there is a nice market town

If you would like to see some red squirrels, this trail is enchanting. We had red squirrels coming right up to our feet.

Very close to Hawes.
