Does anyone have any experience of this as a treatment for their children?
DT’s are now almost 3, born at 33 weeks, they came early as DT1 was showing very slow growth and then stopped, they were born 3lb 8oz and 4lb 10oz. The bigger twin has always thrived, walked at 12 months (10.5 months corrected) never really had any problems
Smaller twin has always been a concern, very slow growth, on the 9th centile, always poorly. Didn’t walk until 18 months, still has half of her teeth to come through. Suffered from Sepsis from an unknown source, gets one cold after another, recently had gastroenteritis, which ended up in her being in hospital with dehydration and very low glucose levels.
Whilst in hospital I was chatting to one of the Dr’s who suggested the GP should be monitoring her much closer for development, height etc. He said gastroenteritis should not leave her dehydrated or with such low blood sugars after only a few days. He also said she could well be a candidate for endocrinology treatment. I had never heard of this before, and whilst I have heard of IUGR this was never mentioned to me.
DT1 was under a paediatrician until 12 months old, but I was, to be perfectly honest, a bit naive about the whole centile/growth problems. We were discharged from the paediatrician just as covid hit.
AIBU to think that we’ve been let down by Dr’s, and health visitors about what low/slow growth can mean? And lastly does anyone have any experience of this treatment?
I contacted the GP’s twice last week to try and make an appointment to discuss but all I got in return was that as my child wasn’t acutely poorly please try another day 😤
