DS is going to a friend's house this afternoon and he wants to take some sweets along. But they are very strict with regards food being halal. Any recommendations please?

In some of the world food aisles in Tesco or Sainsbury's they have halal haribos

Orchidflower1 · 12/03/2022 07:01

Some haribo are- check the packet I think it the golden bears.
Jelly tots are also vegan.

Yes, unless it's the weird dairy milk that has sweets containing gelatin in it, like jelly beans or something.

Turkish Haribo is also halal, or any sweets suitable for vegetarians.

If you have a Home Bargains near you, they sell tubs of Halal sweets called Dexter's. They have a few in the range. They're about £1.49 for a tub. This Ebay link shows them so I'm adding that just for the pic.

Anything that's vegan is fine.

Good. I hope that you find something suitable. They always have the Dexter's gummys and the cables in my local stores but I've seen the others too. Hopefully your store is the same. I've seen other Halal sweets occasionally but those are the most common brand.

If you can’t find sweets choc is an easy option.

Marmite27 · 12/03/2022 07:23

I think babeto sweets are too.

Marks and Spencer’s Percy pigs/caterpillar jelly sweets are now vegetarian. Just check the packaging as they do still sell the gelatine ones (I think)

Yazu · 12/03/2022 07:29

Yes, anything vegetarian is ok. If chocolate shouldn't have alcohol though

Bluepop09 · 12/03/2022 08:03

Anything that's marked as suitable for vegetarians and doesn't contain alcohol is halal.
