Anyone about that can help with this?

Received letter today. It’s quite complicated for me.

Some circumstances may be considered to have improved and others worsened but I’m struggling with how to word things and complete the form and I’m worried I’m gonna mess it up.

Either I’ll mess it up as in do it that I leave a load of stuff out cos I’ll forget it or not explain myself well and I’m worried this will cause me to get a lesser award or even none at all and I need this money

Hard to explain

If anyone is available to discuss via pm where I can go into more personal detail that would be great

General advice also very welcome

Pm me if you want to. I have quite extensive knowledge of this personally and with partners relatives xx

ItsDisneyBitch · 11/03/2022 20:30

I just did dd’s for her on the phone and at exactly 59 minutes the lady said that’s it I have all the answers i need. I wasn’t done speaking so have no idea how it will turn out. I assume they have a cut off at an hour for the call?

andysgirl22 · 11/03/2022 20:35

@ItsDisneyBitch i wonder if they have a cut off at an hour and/or they felt they had all the info that they could enter? Was this a phone call to start a claim ? If so i believe they will then write to you. X

andysgirl22 · 11/03/2022 20:37

Sorry my point was if its an initial call i think that person can only enter certain things and is limited as to how much detail they can put on. I think they will then write to you with a report or you can request this. So i think if you then feel you need to add things you will be able to. I'm wondering if they felt they had already got enough info yo satisfy the points criteria for an award so felt it was sufficient? Of course it all is so personal to claimants/theirparents/carers etc. But not quite so to some staff iyswim x

Contact your local council and see if their welfare rights can help. We had them fill forms several times for DH

ItsDisneyBitch · 11/03/2022 20:46

Thank you x this was the call to swap DLA to PIP I’m her nominated spokesperson.

BenefitsTimingHelp · 11/03/2022 20:56

@andysgirl22 thanks so much will pm you in a min

@ItsDisneyBitch that kinda thing really worries me I wouldn’t manage in an hour! Really hope it works out well for you and dd

It’s a written form I have to complete

I’m dreading it!

@drawingpad that’s who I usually use but having trouble getting an appointment at the moment and the deadline is quite soon

I’ve done the swap from DLA to pip this is the review.

MrsEdnaWelthorpe · 11/03/2022 21:55

Hi OP, feel free to pm me, I work in welfare rights and fill in a lot of PIP forms and am happy to give you some advice on how to fill it in.

BenefitsTimingHelp · 11/03/2022 22:45

@andysgirl22 thanks I have replied to your reply to my pm

@poodlepoop I’m always nervous of using Facebook groups as you don’t know how knowledgeable the people are if you’re getting the right advice? I’ve also heard of dwp snooping on such pages and even though I’m doing nothing wrong that makes me nervous just the fact it’s not anon like here

@MrsEdnaWelthorpe thank you I will take you up on that offer - no offence to Andy’s girl I think as much advice as possible is good

Try to send up to date medical evidence to show what difficulties you still have if possible.

BenefitsTimingHelp · 12/03/2022 01:19

The difficulty I have in part is that I have evidence for one side of things but not for another - because the 1st side Mh makes it hard even impossible for me to sort getting help for the other stuff. I have prescriptions etc for pain but I haven’t been seen by a dr for ages

My gp is good but hard to get hold of cos they’re good the other issue is moving house so I have this gp now but by the time they are looking at the form and calling Drs I could well have a new dr who doesn’t know me as well which one am I supposed to put when I don’t even know who my new one is gonna be?

I did a PIP form for my daughter recently. It went through straight away and she only had 1 5 minute conversation with a nurse as her assessment type of thing. She got the full rate. Remarkably straightforward. It might have helped that I'm a nurse. Happy to help in any way.

BenefitsTimingHelp · 12/03/2022 03:24

Wow! That’s amazing!

No way that will happen with me. I’ve gone through what I could find of my original pip form and started making notes.

What’s stressing me is that I forgot you’re supposed to tell them of changes but also I’m never sure anyway of what changes and how much of a change? Cos things change all the time! You can’t be phoning them every week that’s crazy

Mostly I’m worse, a few categories I’m the same and a few slightly better - well I think they’d view as better I’m not sure I do necessarily

I also found the cab site the part where it explains what the questions really mean and how you’re meant to answer and there’s stuff I was worrying about that I now don’t think I need to - but I’m not an expert so what would I know.

My fear is losing it altogether but even losing part could be disastrous for me financially.

It’s so hard to work out.

If you need more time, give them a bell and explain that you need an extension because you’re waiting on help filling it out. I arranged a couple of extensions, they were absolutely lovely and there were no problems.

BenefitsTimingHelp · 12/03/2022 17:18

@MuchTooTired if I ask for more time do they stop payments in the meantime?

I'm not sure if that's a good idea cos then I'll just be worrying about it for longer I got like no sleep last night for it and feel terrible today I was doing loads of maths between maybe losing this or part of it and the energy price rises even if I cut my expenses right back to basics I mean NO luxuries at all and cutting right back on food I'm still at a loss every month I'm worried sick
