Dentist has only prescribed a 3 day course of Metronidazole for infected wisdom tooth.

I'm being referred to have them out but I've got another infection. I get one every 2 years or so.

Have just been to collect the prescription and it's 3 days of Metronidazole?

As I say I've had a few infections over the years (last one I was prescribed 7 days of Amoxicillin)

I've had Metronidazole before, albeit years ago, but I'm sure it was a longer course?

Long story short, will a 3 day course work?

Are they seeing you again?

No appointment booked imminently. I'm already awaiting a date at dental hospital to have them removed (my dentist doesn't remove them)

I need to go back for a proper check up and hygienist etc when infection clears but the told me to book this in a few weeks.

Bumping in case anyone else can help.

Have left a message with the receptionist, but if they don't come back to me I'll finish the AB on Sunday and be a bit stuck (if it is meant to be a longer course?)

3 days even! Smile

Crunchymum · 11/03/2022 09:17

Thank you @SamphiretheStickerist

I had Googled but seemed to come to the answer that it's usually reviewed after 3 days. Given my dentist has given me no appt to reciew and day 3 is Sunday, I'm guessing this it "it" for the meds.

Hope it works. And then hope they can see me soon to take the hideous wisdom teeth out!!!

It always amazes me what different Google searches throw up. What seems impenetrable for some gets some really easy info for others.

That's why, depsite some posters and their naggling, it's always worth asking here.

I hope it works for you!
