Energy price rise. Trying to work out how skint I'm going to be.

I'm really lucky, I got a fixed deal last year, which will take me through to near Christmas.

Last year I paid £1364 for my gas and electricity, 3 bedroom flat. When the prices go up, what sort of damage am I looking at? I've tried a few online calculators, but the results vary wildly.

I'm doing all the good things, thermostat down, less hours of heat. Jumpers and socks. We live in Scotland, and it is really cold. I want to make sure I save enough/ take on more hours so the kids don't freeze.

What would I be paying (roughly) if I weren't fixed? Thank you.

think double and work from there.

You should look at your usage in kWh and then the price per kWh and the standing charge of the tariff. As fixed deals have crazy prices you are likely looking at the standard variable rate prices. There will be a rise in the price cap on the SVR in April and then again in October so noone can tell you right now how much you will pay in December

I'm with Octopus and am in Scotland and the screenshots show what my prices will be from April under the SVR

Look at your usage in KwH, then you can use the April prices to figure out what it would be from there. It’s expected to jump up massively again in October which is expected to be similarly big sadly

Holy moly. That's worse than I thought. Thank you.

@cakeorwine thank you. That's very helpful. I'm going to overpay what I calculate it will be, based upon the April figures. Build up a war chest.
