Heated Throws

TheSweetestHalleluja · 09/03/2022 16:53

Just wondering whether anyone could recommend a heated throw, and whether they are cost effective? Thinking ahead especially to next winter with the rising prices. We already only have the heating on for a couple of hours morning and evening but I'm hypothyroid and really feel the cold as does DD. The house is well insulated but I always feel better with the warmth of the sun.
Other options I'm looking at are Oodies for everyone and thermals.

This thread is slightly old now so some of the suggestions may be out of stock, but if you’ve landed here looking for cosy heated blankets, we’ve recently updated our best heated throw page with loads of great options that have been tried and tested by Mumsnet users. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

Yes! I’m sitting under my cosi home blanket now, and have not had the hearing on all day. Am thinking the same as you so have just bought a second blanket today for spare room /guests

I use mine in the evenings for watching tv mainly and means I don’t need much heating on

DespairingHomeowner · 09/03/2022 16:59

Also wfh in thermals with a small normal blanket on lap - so I’d go down both routes

Woollystockings · 09/03/2022 17:04

I have a Dreamland one. It’s fabulous and I am going to get another. We don’t put heating on at all and haven’t since the end of Jan. I work from home and it’s good for that.

Heated Throws

Currently lying under mine and it's wonderful.

It's a furry, dreamland number from Dunelm and I think it cost about £100 but its huge.. Id say it's around the size of a double duvet.

You can get other dreamland ones for half the price, this is just bigger and thicker...... Plus it was my birthday present so he spent more. That's definitely the brand id go for...... Don't bother with the aldi one, they arent much cheaper and everyone I know including me that had one they stopped working after a while.

AchillesLastStand · 09/03/2022 17:21

I’d also recommend the Dreamland heated throws. I have a thick faux fur one and a thinner one that’s like a blanket. The fur one is by far the best. I use it when I watch tv and I don’t need the heating on at all. It’s one of the best things I’ve ever bought. I’ve had mine for over 4 years. This is the one I’m talking about.

I just have a regular one from amazon www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B07K6T3KBY?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title&tag=mumsnetforu03-21 I actually have 2. One for the livingroom and one that stays at my desk. It's well worth it and like others, I don't feel the need for the heating.

fruitpastille · 09/03/2022 17:29

I really wanted one but now I have it I don't actually use it that much. I prefer a hot water bottle on my lower back and a normal fleece blanket. And a big cardi.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 09/03/2022 17:33

Cost pennies to run and they are lovely. Argos is where I got mine and had it years.

BashfulClam · 09/03/2022 17:39

I got an Amazon one and it’s my most favourite thing..I plug it in for ten minutes and then turn
it off as it’s warm and retains heat.

TheSweetestHalleluja · 09/03/2022 19:01

They sound great, I'll look at the ones suggested here, thanks :)

Did has one from Lakeland. I tend to sit beside her now and she lets me under! It’s brilliant!

Paddingtonthebear · 09/03/2022 19:08

Yep I love mine, I’ve been WFH and wearing it like a cape during the day when I get cold, instead of putting the central heating on. I’ve got this one but I got it from John Lewis before the price went up

Pootle40 · 09/03/2022 19:18

I got one from Lakeland in November was £70 but got £20 off.

LetsGoCrazyPurpleBanana · 09/03/2022 19:19

Plump 82,I have the same and I love it 😊

TraceyLacey · 09/03/2022 19:22

I got an aldi one recently, it's great.

RoastedFerret · 09/03/2022 19:23

I got one from Aldi before Christmas, it is my favourite thing. I have to wrestle it out from under the dog though because it is also her favourite thing. We use heated blankets and throws a lot instead of turning the heating on.
