Gas or Electric?

I've realised (I hope), that I'm entitled to either £98 worth of gas, or £100 worth of electric free, through a local scheme for those on low incomes. I've been struggling lately, so this is a real help.

Which should I apply for? My first instinct was electricity, as with spring coming, we should manage with just using gas for showers and bath, and layering up.

But now I'm wondering with what's happening in Eastern Europe, will gas prices soar, as demand increases? There's no way I could afford to buy £98 worth at the current price, and that much should last me a long time (12-15 weeks?), if I'm careful. £100 worth of electric would last me 8-10 weeks, unless I can somehow find more ways to cut back.

Will the price of electric increase?

This is the first time in my life, I've had to contemplate getting washed less often. Is this what the 70's were like?
