Eon customers - are you moving to their fixed tariff?

I'm tying myself up in knots trying to understand the ins-and-outs of it all but meno-brain and fibro-fog are making my brain hurt with things like "don't switch to fixed unless it's less than 75% more than the current price cap" (Martin Lewis).

I'm on Next flex, variable. Currently pay £118/month for gas and electric. I have the option to change to their V12 fixed tariff at £173.89/month.

Should I switch?

@oreo2020

Me too, was offered v12 yesterday and after the initial shock overnight went online to fix it at v12... another shock, v12 is gone and replaced with more expensive v13z Estimated energy bills gone from £1400 to £3000 (v12) to £3600 (v13). I have fixed at v13 and now scared to boil a kettle for tea....

Your bills shouldn't go up until your old fix ends.

Eon are keeping me on my old fix until it ends at the end of April - then v12 rates will kick in. Fortunately that should be around the time that I'm switching the heating off!

Fixed on v7 £80 pcm. Was paying about £50 pcm in the cooler months and £10pm in the summer before on variable. Hoping this will help us through the two price hikes.

All we can hope is that in October we can look back and know we made the right decision 🤷🏻‍♀️

(I'd like to see a v14 and 15 brought in so I don't feel that I got shafted right at the end!)
