For how much Longer we will sit and watch from the sideline? What needs to happen to trigger NATO stepping in?

So many people are suffering for no reason. Many more will if NATO step in, and a certain nuclear WW3.

What do we do next???

damned if we do and damned if we dont

SomePosters · 06/03/2022 22:54

Yes. Without a doubt

Any one who has raised a toddler or learned any world history can tell you that if you don’t nip it in the bud then it will escalate

When he gets away with this he will set his sights higher until we can’t ignore it

mila5star · 06/03/2022 22:54

It's absolutely heartbreaking to watch what is happening over there. I have no idea what we should do but don't see how NATO can step in without causing it to escalate dangerously. Putin is a dangerous megalomaniac.

@TellMeMoreHellebore

damned if we do and damned if we dont
So we might as well help now?

All I know is if it were us begging for help I'd hope others weren't too afraid to provide it.

TellMeMoreHellebore · 06/03/2022 22:57

@marvingale

i'm beginning to think so..

It's unthinkable what will happen if NATO joins the war. Millions will die. No weapon is off the table. Massive collateral damage. Here, in the UK! We will be attacked.
And that is precisely what Putin wants, destabilising the West.

Or, we can help as many as Ukrainians as possible to leave. Mass exodus to the west, leaving Russia with a pile of rubble. Sounds crazy but is there a chance we can do it?

It wont stop with Ukraine though, he will just move on to the other Baltic states.
TellMeMoreHellebore · 06/03/2022 23:19

but he will move on to other countries with less and less the further he goes...so he loses a quarter of his army/equipment in Ukraine,moves into Poland and loses 2 quarters....and on and on until he's depleted?

he's not exactly drumming up support back in Russia is he? nobody will be conscripted and be enthusiastic and other countries aren't helping him

how long can he go on for? (though i'm personally of the opinion he's got arms yet to use)

LifeExperience · 06/03/2022 23:22

Good luck getting NATO into the war without the US. The American people are for arming Ukraine but overwhelmingly against US troops being used in yet another war. Last poll saw was 72% against, some undecided and almost no one for going in.

If Biden tries to get US troops into the war, he will impeached or Article 25ed out.

I have immense sympathy for Ukraine. But I am a retired American military officer and absolutely dead set against sending more young American men and women to die in a foreign country. Enough is enough.

TellMeMoreHellebore · 06/03/2022 23:28

US air force are all over the skies just outside Ukraine....they are certainly making their presence felt up there

He will use nuclear from the comfort of his sofa. No need to go far.

i can imagine him doing this if he had to sit through anything with david walliams in it. I would!

Booklover3 · 07/03/2022 01:05

I’d say the longer this goes on for in Ukraine the worse it looks for Putin. If they give in he will be seen as a hero in Russia and I doubt he would find it hard then to bolster his army… the longer it goes on for the more credibility he will loose.
