Considering taking these for upcoming holiday.
Can you tell me of your experience of it & can you get it on prescription from GP?

I got it online from Boots and it ruined my holiday! I had extreme mood swings and was a complete cow all holiday. It was like pms on crack.

If I was ever to use it again it would be in the month before my holiday to shift when I was due rather than over the actual holiday.

I used this for a recent trip. Completely agree that it ruined my holiday - my mood was so low. I stopped taking it 3 days before I intended to. Never again.

I reacted really badly too, also on holiday. It was like my body was trying to have a period but couldn't. I had cramps, etc. in the end I just stopped taking it so I could bleed.

I wouldn't recommend using it for a special occasion unless you can test first to see how you respond, as everyone reacts differently to hormonal stuff.

I have used it a few times to delay periods, I’ve never had any bad reactions to it. Maybe some bloating and feeling a bit emotional but nothing major. My periods are pretty awful though so anything was better than having my period on a special occasion. I’ve always ordered mine from an online pharmacy like Superdrug

ConfusedGin · 06/03/2022 19:48

To give the other side, I've used it twice in a couple of months. Once to delay a period for a wedding and another to stop a 3 week bleed. I have fibroids and my periods are heavy with flooding and very large clots and long. Nothing else works for them so it's a great way of giving me control when I need it.

Both times have been completely fine. Perhaps a little bloated but it's worked exactly as it's supposed to with no side effects. I don't normally suffer from any PMS or mood swings though in my cycle so can't say if they would have made it worse.

Worst case, if you aren't handling them well, stop taking them.

ConfusedGin · 06/03/2022 19:53

I should also say, both times I got it on prescription through my GP, as it was managing a medical problem

tumtitum · 06/03/2022 19:56

I got them through boots online, didn't have any problems (I did have a horrendous bug whilst I was taking them but think that was food poisoning not the tablets!!), period started the day after I stopped taking them. My cycle was a bit delayed for the few months afterwards but that could also have been due to the covid booster jab...

I used this every time I went on holiday for 5-6 years. No unpleasant side effects. No periods. Great.

PukkaP · 06/03/2022 20:02

Gave me a crashing headache. Wouldn't use it again

Bangkokbaby · 06/03/2022 20:04

I've been looking into this as I'm due my period while on holiday this summer. I don't fancy taking it while I'm away incase I don't have a good reaction to it. If I used it the month before do you think it would push my period back the next month too? Or does it arrive at the usual time the next month?

Lindor2828 · 06/03/2022 20:15

I've used it many times, never had a problem with it and I'm usually quite sensitive to hormones. It's been a saviour for many holidays and weekends away for me personally so don't be put off by the pp. Ifyou don't like it you can stop taking it and your period will arrive as it would have if you didn't take them in the first place.

I have used it to push my period back by taking it to delay a period a few months before my holiday and resetting my cycle which has worked well too. My period arrives three days after stopping them, and then as normal a month later. The first period after stopping the medication is usually heavier but not unmanageable.

EmmaGellerGreen · 06/03/2022 20:46

I got it from the GP. Total nightmare, rather than stopping my period, I had the heaviest for ages.
