Funeral when to attend

Seems like a silly question but my best friend of 20 years mum has died. Only ever met the mum once at her wedding and she has 4 siblings and a big extended family.

Should I attend the funeral ? Don’t quite know what the etiquette is

My best friend came to my dad's funeral. My dad actually introduced us when we were in hospital, having our DC, (he was far more outgoing than me). She saw him quite a bit, so it felt right.

My sister's friends said they would come, then never turned up. Dsis wasn't too happy about my friend coming (she asked her who she was, despite having met her a few times before, and my friend coming to youngest DC's funeral).

I'm surprised you have to ask, to be honest. She's your best friends of 20 years - why wouldn't you be there at her mum's funeral? I'd be beyond upset if my closest friends didn't come to my parents' funerals.

Yes I would definitely go.
