I'm so scared. Just waiting on ambulance transfer to specialist spinal hospital for immediate surgery. Can anyone keep me company, tell me jokes etc? And that my Y10 will cope missing a week off school as she's having to go away to stay with family

You poor thing, I was suspected of it and the emergency care was amazing and I was very reassured.
Thinking of you and hope everything goes well x

LovelyQuiche · 05/03/2022 20:28

Great they’ve discovered it so they can now sort it for you!!!

42isthemeaning · 05/03/2022 20:30

Good luck with the surgery- they will take good care of you, put your faith in them. Your dd will be well looked after too. Try to focus on getting through the next bit - you can do it, op.

Spinal care is absolutely amazing these days. Some experience of this. Where are they sending you? Sending positive thoughts.

Roystonv · 05/03/2022 20:58

Wishing you all the best, yes it will be a strange time for you both but for the very good reason of getting you better and back to being Mum

MikeandDave · 05/03/2022 21:02

I have had this and had the surgery it is really scary to have an emergency surgery but it went well and I have had a good recovery. Getting surgery fast is the key to a good recovery as the nerves can recover and heal once they are decompressed.

nightwakingmoon · 05/03/2022 21:05

Wishing you all the very best for the surgery OP - thinking of you and your DD! xxx

SNUG2022 · 05/03/2022 21:05

Good luck Flowers

The most difficult thing about being in hospital was an old lady with dementia who kept me awake all night! Next day she had lots of naps and was really quiet and smiled at everyone ☺

Wowzel · 05/03/2022 21:07

When I saw your title I thought, I hope she is going for surgery soon.

Hope it goes well, try not to worry xx

Lou573 · 05/03/2022 21:09

I probably had it but they didn’t mess around waiting for a diagnosis and had me into surgery the next day. All good, you’ll be up and about it no time.

WTFIsHappeningInTheWorld · 06/03/2022 09:28

I didn't realize I posted this, guess I was pretty out of it!

I've just posted a other thread (sorry) - I had surgery in the early hours, and for the first time in over a month I have no pain in my leg! Back is very sore, but the pain in my leg was immense so that's a huge relief Smile

Fantastic!

Roystonv · 06/03/2022 21:02

So glad you are out the other side and wishing you a speedy recovery.

nightwakingmoon · 06/03/2022 22:26

So pleased to hear this! Sending you every good wish for a smooth recovery. xxx

Gilead · 06/03/2022 22:55

Pleased you’re feeling better. I know how you feel, I’ve bee in hospital for over a week, they thought it may be this initially but have decided it’s probably arthritic inflammation impingement. Physio for me!
Hope you are back and enjoying being with your year ten soon. 💐💐💐

WTFIsHappeningInTheWorld · 07/03/2022 07:40

Thanks all. I'm still in hospital but hopefully seeing physio today to sort plan for going home. Surgery showed a couple of other issues which should explain the long term back pain, not sure what the options for that are.

Missing Dad's like crazy! DD1 is an adult, though her disabilities mean she needs someone with her at all time - one night is fine for her to be with DD2 (15) but any more than that and I worry about how DD2 will cope (carers usually pop in once a day though). So I am relieved they're with family 🙂
