This is something that all cats love to do, even if they do create a trip hazard or otherwise cause some inconvenience to people. I don't have a cat so I can't contribute but I was inspired to make this thread by a neighbour's cat I saw earlier today, a large black and white character perched on somebody's doorstep (probably not his owner's), completely sheltered from the brisk northerly wind and in full view of the early spring sun. He looked quite satisfied!

Excellent. Assuming you can see their faces, cats always look very smug when they're catching some rays.

Our cats used to lie part way up the stairs in the morning. We had an east-facing window through which the morning sunlight came. Fortunately all our cats contrasted with the colour of the carpet so nobody tripped over them and went head first through said window.

@marihen1 I've always thought that he looks like he might be a MC cross, he's a rescue so maybe.

One of Marmelace's pictures reminds me of another of our cats' sunspots - the garage roof. It was flat so easy to lie on and dark-coloured so quickly warmed up. Goodness knows how they managed to get up there as it was eight feet up with no obvious access, not even for a cat!

Middle (and bottom) dcat is sadly missed by top dcat.
