Where is AF?!

My period was due last Friday, I am sometimes a couple of days early but never late.

I have done a pregnancy test (clearblue digital) and it was negative. The chances of me being pregnant are very slim anyway, we have had sex but have used condoms with no problems (I know they're not 100% effective).

I haven't got any pregnancy symptoms other than no period. I have been feeling really tired and had brain fog for a few months (actually since having Covid in Aug). I've been getting the odd palpitation but nothing major. I am 42 so could it be the start of menopause.

I am hoping AF will arrive soon but seriously worried about pregnancy, its definitely not what we want.

It’s not impossible it’s the menopause but seems unlikely. Did you do the test today? You’d think it would be positive by now if pregnant.
It seems quite early to consult a doctor so maybe give it a week or two and test again/look out for symptoms.
Sorry, I don’t suppose that helps. Maybe others will say it is worth consulting a doctor sooner.

Thank you, I tested yesterday but the packaging said it was 90 something % accurate the day before a period was due so I would have thought it would pick up 6 days late. Maybe it's just a blip and I've been lucky so far or maybe I have been late in the past and just forgot.

I agree too early to consult a GP, I suppose there's not much I can do, just wait and test again in a few days.

Yes, I expect it’s just late unless you actually have a family history of early menopause.
Take care!

I'm also 42 and my regular as clockwork period was a week late this month. I wondered about covid booster. It's such a pain to not know.

PunishmentRoundupWithJoon · 31/03/2022 20:51

It seems the covid jabs and boosters can play havoc with womens menstrual cycles. Not for every woman, obviously, but loads are reporting delays, heavy periods after the jabs. Had to had a jab or a booster in the weeks before?

Glad it arrived anyway!

First signs of perimenopause for me was 10 weeks between periods at 43 but was 49 before they stopped altogether.

BIWI · 01/04/2022 09:24

@Tippexy it's because I've been here for years that I believe AF to stand for AnyFucker!
