Tell me about laryngitis!

This is my second thread about my sore throat but hoping for more traffic here

I’ve had a sore throat for ten days, it feels low down in my throat around my voice box/larynx area. Really painful to swallow. Tonsils look normal no redness or anything in that area. My actual voice is fine though, no hoarseness or loss of voice.

My neck feels tender to touch on the outside too around the area. Strepsils etc are doing precisely nothing to help, the only thing that eases it slightly is paracetamol and ibuprofen. I work full time in a client facing role so I’m talking all day. If it s no better by Monday I’ll have to call in sick and get a doctors appointment as it’s gone on for so long now. does this sound like laryngitis?

No, doesn't sound anything like laryngitis if you can speak normally. The key to laryngitis is the effect of inflammation on the voice box.

You need to be seen, ten days is a long time.

You'll know when you have laryngitis, you simply won't be able to speak. No voice whatsoever.
