Surely the Government will have to do more regarding fuel increases, when they see the impact its going to have.

At the moment I get the feeling they're all
'yeah we know it will be hard' etc etc

But the reality is yes it will be hard for most but impossible for others

My df said she currently on her pre pay meter (she can't have billed as her LL won't allow the change)
She's currently putting on £40 week on her electricity and £20 gas. She's already eating mainly value food. Got rid of her car. Everything to lower outgoings but what she saves in that gets swallowed up by all other things rising.

  • I know everyone is the same

She said the other day she needed new socks £3.50 or whatever in primark. And she would have to wait to the following week and hope she could find it.
I ended up buying them when I went tk tesco, no issue but it's just so sad. I didn't want her to feel embarrassed so I made out it was an early Easter gift. (normal I buy her an egg) but at easter I'll 'forget' id got the socks and get an egg anyway.

She's not entitled to much help she gets all the right benefits for her wage etc. I've helped her go through it all.
. She relies on food banks heavily as it is.

She said today she's praying the government can help everyone somehow because she feels its not worth living if she's just existing worrying about being cold and scared to warm her home

Probably not. MPs have just been awarded a £2000 pay rise as well, so that’ll probably mop up any of the extra costs they’ll be facing. The ones that can’t be claimed on their daily expenses anyway.

Writing to your MP is probably a good start.

I can’t see it. They will just be enjoying the extra money they are getting from the VAT on the extra cost.

They think the loan they have given people is the answer

I am sure I have read on here that your landlord cant stop you going on a normal meter so check out the legalities of that if she wants to change .

Highly unlikely.

Yes I think they will have to do something to help the poorest. I can't see benefits rising but help being given in other ways.
