Schools in Shepperton

We have just had our offer accepted on a house in Shepperton, which we're delighted about, but we had to apply for a secondary school place in our current location, which is Teddington. My son has been offered a place at Teddington, which is great, but it will be difficult for us to get him there as we don't drive. We're also looking at what's available around Shepperton, and we've heard that Thamesmead is good. I wondered if anyone has any experience of this school at all? It has a "good" Ofsted rating (same as Teddington), but this doesn't tell me much. I'd really appreciate some opinions on this and other local schools!

I don’t live locally and don’t have kids but a friend’s child goes to Bishopwand and loves it, parents are happy too,

I thought that Teddington was just a train ride away from Shepperton so should still be easy to reach. If it's the school that I'm thinking of, then getting off at Hampton Wick is better than Teddington.

@Kpo58 - it's not a long train journey, no, but he's a summer baby, the smallest in his year and not really ready to travel alone on the train, so I'm looking for a school that is more accessible. Thamesmead is very close to our (hopefully) new place.

Thamesmead is ok. Your child would probably need to go on a waiting list though.

The train service is terrible though so I wouldn't commute to Teddington long term.

My sons both went to Thamesmead.
Not a bad school at all. DS2 is very academic and the school supported him doing an extra GCSE outside the normal timetable. (3 years ago)
Happy to recomend it - just a pity it doesn't have a 6th form.
