Shock

Went to my usual supplier and though bloody hell! Looked at boiler juice, it's 13p a litre MORE than my usual supplier.

Last year I paid £212 for 500 litres. Today, boiler juice quoted £476.

I realise it must have gone up since recent events in Russia but fucking hell.

I've never found boilerjuice the cheapest.
I used to ring round for quotes, now get them online.
But yes prices have gone up a lot, due to world factors.

Oakdog · 01/03/2022 18:59

Wow -we had some delivered the week before last - it was just under £600 for almost 900 litres.
Scary how fast it's gone up!!

ImFree2doasiwant · 01/03/2022 19:00

It's so disheartening. Due to finances I've always been a bit last minute with filling up, but this past year had got more control over it, and thought the £250 I had saved would cover most of the cost. When in fact I need almost the same again.

@oakdog that's crazy. I'm not desperate for a top up but feel I should order now in case it goes up again.

Oil prices are rising. Hit a peak this week of $100 A barrel. Not going to be going down anytime soon

parafirstjoint · 01/03/2022 20:00

I paid 61p a week ago and topped up 500 litres as I am worried prices are going to rise quickly. I wouldn’t usually need a top up until Late April time.

My last order in December was 45p a litre.

Boiler juice is not cheap. I definitely shop around every time.

Pasithea · 01/03/2022 20:10

I paid 16 p a litre at the start of lockdown Just paid 81.2.p. It’s a joke.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 01/03/2022 20:13

Yeah, it hasn’t been this high for about 8/9 years. Not surprising, if gas and electric prices are going up then oil was definitely following regardless. One of the few things I hate about living in the country. Boiler juice were a lot more than my local oil delivery company (I always like to compare)

ImFree2doasiwant · 01/03/2022 20:14

@Pasithea someone else told me similar today, I didn't ever see it that low but then it was incredibly mild so I imagine I just didn't need ant at that point. I guess I should order the 74p then.

OP posts:
bloodywhitecat · 01/03/2022 20:15

I paid 19p per litre on my last fill up, when I looked on Friday it was at 76p.

bloodywhitecat · 01/03/2022 20:16

Do you have an Oil Club near you? That can be a good way to get a lower price.

feellikeanalien · 01/03/2022 20:18

Wow. I got £500 litres at the end of January and it was just over £300. That's a hell of an increase. I've also found that if you go directly to the supplier it's usually a bit cheaper but I don't know if that's a general thing or just the particular one I use.

Blueuggboots · 01/03/2022 20:19

I pay monthly with my supplier, I pay £200/month but know I'll be in credit come the winter. Then I don't have to find such a massively chunk in one go.

ImFree2doasiwant · 01/03/2022 20:38

@bloodywhitecat I tried oilclub but couldnt work out how to join an area, and ended up giving up. I mught try again!

OP posts:
ImFree2doasiwant · 01/03/2022 20:39

@Blueuggboots I don't use much, 1500 litres a year. I have considered a monthly payment but then you lose the ability to shop around

Elderflower14 · 01/03/2022 21:08

We had a delivery today at 74p a litre... We pay the oil company £110 a month.

Crispynoodle · 01/03/2022 21:15

YES! Last week boiler juice was 500 litres = £315 this week when I ordered it was 500 litres = £414. I ordered it like a lemon then my colleague told me that boiler juice are taking the proverbial and local suppliers were charging £60 less than that! I live and learn!

MrsAmaretto · 01/03/2022 21:17

76.9p here in Shetland, my tank is 2300l 😭 I shouldn't complain, when the oil price was super low we were worried my husband was going to get made redundant as he works offshore. Now his job is secure but we can't afford to fill the tank!

Wish I had land to put a windmill on, and the cash to put one up!

User76745333 · 01/03/2022 21:20

To be fair the price has been ridiculously low which makes it seem worse. But yes we’ve lived in this house for 15 years and the highest I remember it before was about 76p which was around 2010ish

HenryHorse1 · 01/03/2022 21:25

not sure if they supply your area but I have always found NRG oil the cheapest. But yes, totally agree, holy shit has the price gone up!! Currently sat with a blanket and not putting the heating on tottery and save what we have left of oil!!

BirdOnTheWire · 01/03/2022 21:26

Oil prices have been up and down over the 30 years I've lived here. In 2020 the price fell down to levelslast seen in 1988.
I suppose it's no surprise oil is going thè same way as other fuels.
FWIW I find fuelfighter cheaper than boilerjuice.

HenryHorse1 · 01/03/2022 21:26

to try! Not tottery!!

ImFree2doasiwant · 01/03/2022 23:34

I know they do fluctuate but this is such a sharp increase.

@User76745333 yes I moved here in 2010 and the proces were similar then. I havent ever paid that much since though.

Oh well, I've ordered and this delivery will see me through to summer.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 03/03/2022 09:42

I’ll tell you something, checked last night on boilerjuice and it’s gone up by about £80 since I ordered last week so only heading in one direction!

ImFree2doasiwant · 06/03/2022 09:08

Email from the oil club. 96.7p a litre. So pleased I ordered when I dud, when i thought74p was bad!
