If we offered UN Russian rep immunity for him and his family do you think he’d snap our hand off?

I’ve been watching the UN proceedings and the Russian rep (Vassily Nebenzia) lying about Russia’s motives for war. Surely he doesn’t believe what he’s saying? Do you think that if the UK or USA offered him immediate immunity/refuge and the same for his family that he would defect without hesitation? I’m feeling a bit sorry for Putin’s spokespersons. Surely the West could get them onboard/ help them, or maybe they fear Putin’s revenge whatever they do so wouldn’t defect anyway?

Why wouid we want him as a defector?

Sure he's a mouthpiece for the regime, but how much does know, other than his script. As a senior diplomat, there will be things he could tell the West, but only a very tight circle round Putin himself will really knew what is going on. Military orders will be formulated in Moscow. The information sent out to a diplomat based with the UN will be for international consumption. So is this individual,well-connected - knows theright people in Moscow, hears things from them?

Or do you see the value not as the debrief, but the symbolism?

Why on earth should we?

I would have thought that we wouldn't accept due to the likelihood of been assassination from the Russian regime.

They know they'd be assassinated. We're powerless to prevent novichok in the teapot it seems. We should have cracked down on Russia many, many years ago. It's sickening what they did on UK soil with Litvinenko and the Skripals.
