If you've ever been to a concert/gig in a theatre...

... did you stay seated or end up standing?

I'm considering tickets to see Sting in the London Palladium but they only have tickets in the front row of the grand circle which says limited legroom and safety rail in view... but surely if the theatre is being used for a rock/pop concert like this that people will end up standing/dancing etc? Is that not the norm? I've only ever been to bigger concerts/gigs at places like Wembley/The O2 and everyone got up to stand/dance, despite being in seated tickets..

TIA

Seated most of the time.

I think you can't stand up as everyone behind you wouldn't be able to see.

I know what you mean though, it's odd to think of being at a concert sitting down.

I have been to stadiums where you have to remain seated at all times, and theatres where everyone sat until the encores when people got up and danced but you shouldn't stand unless everyone behind you is as well and the theatre may ban it if its a safety issue.

Seated. Those behind can throw things if you block their view.

There are usually instructions to sit (if for safety reasons). I went to a weird Bryan Adams concert at the NEC a couple of decades ago where we were made to sit and stay seated "for safety reasons". "Bouncers" walked up and down the aisles. Felt odd not dancing at a gig.

David Cassidy 1973 we all stood on the arms or backs of the seats.
Radiohead and Pulp in the 90s we sat, then stood.
Th Gloaming in the 2000s we sat.

Ah damn.. how frustrating.. hopefully if I get the tickets it'll be one of those concerts where people end up standing. I've had a look at some pictures they have on the website of gigs and looks like lot of people are standing..

Theatre seats are not designed for standing unless you are in the standing only area. Thede is not much leg room and safety barriers but I have seen people dancing in the aisles and move up to the stage area but security can be pretty tight.
