Hopefully someone here will know the book title.
Vague description but it was about a young woman who had gone to a mother and baby home because she was pregnant and unmarried. Her parents were not supportive or helpful and went on about sin and hell etc.
Fast forward many years and it was either one or both parents had died and she was going through paperwork and found birth and marriage certificates. She found out that her parents had always lied about their wedding date and said it had happened a year before it actually did and that they'd had to get married because the mother was pregnant out of wedlock.
Any ideas?
