I’d love to hear from anyone in project management who could give me a realistic view of what it would entail.
I’ve worked in high level sales in advertising for around 5 years. Basically managing very large pitches that could take anywhere from 3 months to a year, involving lots of different stakeholders and complex negotiations.
I’m about to turn 30 and feel like I need a new challenge and direction in life. I fell into sales after uni and it’s never felt 100% me. I’m not happy in my current role and I feel like the next job needs to be one I’m happy with for the long haul.
A friend suggested project management might fit my skill set (negotiation, organisation, team management, communication etc) but I really don’t have any idea how I would get into it. Would it involve going right back to starting again? Would I be looking at an entry level salary? My current package is £50k basic with another £15-20k commission and although I’d be happy to take a bit of a pay cut, it wouldn’t be realistic long term.
Any ideas or suggestions would be most welcome.
