Tesco delivery cancelled

Has anyone else had their order cancelled today with very little notice? Am fuming. Tried to get through on the phone and guess what, there's a long wait time. No explanation or compensation given. I pay for a delivery pass and I now can't get another delivery all week - fuming!!!

But as I said many other people get deliveries cancelled. I've quoted 4 people I know in the last week. So I wasn't just referring to op. Thus my point stands.

Lots of deliveries were cancelled recently, because of lack of drivers, stress, and the strong winds. i am just waiting for some Wilko stuff, that is now well overdue,, and Wilko are usually very quick with deliveries.

FlamingoQueen · 25/02/2022 18:03

Mine was on time today, but all the 8-9am slots were cancelled - apparently their new computer system crashed so they couldn’t see what anyone had ordered! I am in the South, but assume the whole country has the same system.

maya71 · 25/02/2022 18:13

I had this a while ago. Delivery didn't turn up so I waited but nothing. Then I looked at my emails & discovered they'd emailed earlier saying it was cancelled due to lack of drivers but my order would be available until 10pm at Click & Collect. By this time, it was 9.30 & I'd had a glass of wine so couldn't go. I don't usually check emails on a Saturday evening. If they'd texted, I woud have picked it up sooner.

A couple of weeks ago I had a delivery arrive really late. It was due between 8 & 9 but arrived at 10. Not ideal when you've been at work all day are very tired & had ordered food to eat that evening.

maya71 · 25/02/2022 18:15

However, when my delivery was cancelled I received 2 £10 off vouchers. One because it was cancelled & one because I phoned to complain. When my order was late, the driver knocked off the prices of all the stuff with short use by dates, so it's worth complaining!

So when you specifically referred to the OP you weren't just referring to her. OK then... 😂

I just dont believe that your town has no local Facebook group or that you've got no local friends in your area you could text and ask for a favour.

You would need to be living a very isolated life to not have anyone in your own town to ask for help.[/quote]
You don't believe that hey...
Nice life for you.
But as its my life, and I've had this happen over the last year.....yes I had no one to ask.
Same as when I've been stranded due to weather over the last week. But I'm sure making that up too.
Just because it doesn't fit your expectations doesn't mean it isn't true.

Cakeandcardio · 25/02/2022 18:45

Mine was cancelled today. I phoned and they said there was a problem with their system. It's annoying but nothing compared to what the people of Ukraine are facing. These things happen.

NatalieH2220 · 25/02/2022 18:56

I had it last Sunday. At 3pm. Shopping was due 8pm. Home with two small children (one wasn't well) no car and shops shut at 4pm. My husband wasn't back from work until 6pm. Very annoying but not much I could do. My husband just went to Tesco express for the basics until we could get to the shop the following evening.

hedgehogger1 · 25/02/2022 19:25

I had a delivery this morning. Driver told me I was his last one as all the computers were down so they couldn't get to Anyones orders. We discussed whether it was the Russians starting their cyber attacks

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 25/02/2022 19:44

Wish I hadn't started this tbh. Not allowed to be annoyed about little things any more. Typical MN. Thanks to those who replied they also had issues. Managed to get a late night slot for tomorrow - just hope they turn up this time.

I can't believe this thread. I only rarely have a sainsbury delivery, or an Iceland delivery. But if you do have regular deliveries why are you not allowed to be cross when one doesn't turn up. Why isn't OP allowed to be cross as shocking customer service? All supermarkets have had plenty of opportunities to hire drivers, but haven't. You can't keep blaming covid, it's been 2 years.
Well yes you can blame Covid actually as up until today people still had to isolate if they tested positive. If you physically do not have the staff what can you do?

And it's incredibly difficult to hire drivers right now. People just don't want to do it.

GirlInACountrySong · 25/02/2022 20:55

I don't think people realise just how difficult retail has been. customers don't/won't understand, we have had some stood screaming at us

covid is still very much a REASON for services being disrupted.

Yes, I don't work in retail but I work in production for retailers. If you can't WFH, you can't work at all if you catch Covid. So there are delays. But then people don't want us going into work with Covid. Can't win.
VeniVidiWeeWee · 25/02/2022 21:40

Just to remind my retail colleagues, customers is an amagram of store scum.

DinnoWoman · 25/02/2022 22:19

What kind of Facebook group has people on it who go out and buy a full week's shop and deliver it to a stranger's house?

OP I'd be fucked off too, customer service is shit in the UK and has been for two years.

And I bet Mumsnet are hoping it's ok to get cheesed off about this type of thing even given impending russia themed Armageddon, otherwise they'd have to close most of the site down and just leave the politics threads for all the loons and bots.

ha! thats funny!

quite agree at times

AdobeWanKenobi · 25/02/2022 23:23

@Sirzy

Well if your not happy with the service then go to the shops yourself!
And if the OP isn't able bodied?

Quite an assumption that she can there isn't it?

Lucinda7 · 25/02/2022 23:24

I had a Tesco delivery at 3.30 this afternoon. He didn't mention any difficulties. We're in rural Worcestershire.

TracyMosby · 25/02/2022 23:31

Crikey is this a growing issue? My parents are pretty much housebound at this stage. My dad isnt entirely but my mum is and cannot be left for long or she will fall. They are really reliant in deliveries. During the first lockdown the council delivered random food to them each week.

DebiNewberry1997 · 26/02/2022 05:12

What has Ukraine got to do with supermarket deliveries? What an odd comment. Would the OP have been allowed to be cross last week before Russia invaded? There were conflicts and famines and all manner of terrible things in other parts of the world last week. Is it only the plight of Ukraine that negates anyone's right to get annoyed?

Also literally not what I said. The reading comprehension on MN is really poor sometimes.
