Looking for recommendations for an ok looking backpack for work. To fit a laptop up to 15.6”. Budget up to around £100 I would say.

I like Rains www.uk.rains.com/collections/messenger-laptop-bags

NB I don't have the laptop style. But I think they're stylish, in a practical way.

Knomo - typically a bit more than £100 but the reductions can be generous in the sale.

I got this for Christmas:
www.samsonite.co.uk/mysight-laptop-backpack-17.3---black/135072-1041.html

We have to carry our laptops back and forth now with hyprid working and I needed a decent padded and stable on as I have back problems.

So comfy, I have the laptop, umbrella, water bottle in it and there is still space.

Lots of small pockets for pens, keys, phones.

DH has a Samsonite for years and travelled a lot pre-pandemic, his looks prestine after lots of abuse.

John Lewis are a good place to look. Personally I would look for a proper laptop bag with compartments for cables/chargers etc. Now I have to take everything to and from work, I need something practical. My Fjallraven is good looking, but style over substance for all my IT kit.

FYI, I bought this one a few years ago. There are a number on the JL website that are quite slim.

Great thread, OP - I'm looking for one now too!

Saw this one from Everlane, but it's quite pricey and not quite as smart as I'm looking for...

AffIt · 23/02/2022 15:38

If anybody has any specific recommendations for larger bags (so 15" +), that would be great - I'm quite annoyed by the number of companies that assume we only ever use ickle wee Macbooks and don't carry anything else...

I have a Solo New York one which I got from TK Maxx. Has rucksack straps and also briefcase handles. I like the padded compartment inside and it also has several pockets for cables/junk. They had it on Amazon as well but it was much, much more expensive on there - I only paid about £25 I think.

I had the same issue when looking for a bag to take my 17" laptop

Ended up with the Sienna from Nordace which is brilliant

Doubleglouceater · 23/02/2022 15:44

Following! I have struggled finding a decent one for my 15 plus inch laptop.

Lanza5 · 23/02/2022 15:45

I've got this one from M&S which I'm very happy with:

@SausageRoll2020 that looks really nice - thank you for the tip!

MikeWozniaksMohawk · 23/02/2022 16:00

Yes I think I may go for the Sienna from Nordace too.

I would lobby work to get a second set. We have a docking station at work which also is a charging point so I can have the actual laptop cable at home. We got money originally to buy additional equipment like keyboard and mouse and we also got two sets of headphones, one stays in the office, the other is at home.

The only item I actually carry around is my laptop. I would only need the cable if I would have to use the laptop outside home or the office.
