DVLA waiting

Been waiting since April 2021 for my license back. Anyone beat this?

I think you need to chase it, OP. Mine was back within the month recently.

I thought mine was bad from July last summer .

Have you received a letter from the DVLA saying they've got your forms or just heard nothing?
If they've got your forms then chase up.
If you've not heard anything then maybe resend, using Special Delivery.

Is it from the medical department?
They received my paper work start of August 2021 (sent Special Delivery) & confirmed they had started the process back in September 2021.
10 days ago (start February 2022) they informed me they were writing to my psychiatrist. He has received the forms & has sent them back.
Who knows what will happen next?

My license expired mid-October but I have continued to drive under section 88 of the 1988 Road Traffic Act. I also carry a letter from my psychiatrist saying he is happy for my drive & a letter from my insurer saying they will insure me until the DVLA make up their mind.

The medical department is usually a bit flaky but they've been taking the piss due to COVID, wfh & industrial action.
No idea about other departments but I understand it's pretty hit & miss.

DVLA service levels are shocking.

Ask your MP to help. It seemed to work for us.

After trying to get through on the phone line to DVLA for many months ..... I decided to send them a tweet on Twitter. They replied within 24hrs. It's definitely worth a try

Yep I just got mine back after two years! Medical dept
Sent all the forms off Feb 2020 then nothing …
Emailed loads of times to be told it was being processed but they couldn’t discuss cases over email.
Got through by phone once and was told the same

Got a letter in January with all the same forms ‘thanking me for my recent enquiry’

Had to fill them all in again - not straightforward as answers change in that time.

I sent it back via recorded delivery with a covering letter.
Got my new license about 3 weeks later.

At least they’ve given me 3 years from now and not back dated it to the end of the last one or I’d be applying again in a few months

Wow two years. They wrote back in August to say they have sent it to the medical department. In December my GP confirmed no one had been in touch. I have just asked my MP and they are now looking into it. I want it back by June. Fingers crossed. I can't drive as I need refresher lessons.
