What’s with the weird ‘wide mouth’ trend?

Noticed it on Courtney Cox on the Friends reboot thingy and again on Kirsten Davies in the SATC reboot.

Just now I saw a picture of Victoria Beckham who has also had it done.

It looks kind of… odd. A bit ventriloquist dummyish. A little bit spooky in an uncanny valley sort of way.

Is this a new thing? Have I missed something?

I think it’s more noticeable when they’re faces are moving.

Well if you stretch the wrinkles out then I guess the mouth gets stretched at the same time !

I don't think you can widen your mouth maybe the fillers give that allusion

I know squat about plastic surgery, I just wondered if it was a current(ish) trend.

I know what you mean I noticed it on Courtney Cox the other day. It definitely looks like they’ve done some weird joker thing widening their mouths. It looks awful and creepy.

Ah face lift pulls to the sides then the excess skin is trimmed off. It would definitely stretch the mouth a bit.

I get what you mean as watched the new Scream movie, which was awful, but she does look like she has gone overboard with treatments and filler, botox etc. She even admitted it herself. Her mouth is also hanging down at one side. She has beautiful blue eyes though but think she got so much done as she is very thin and been overly thin gives more wrinkles lines to the face. The other actress Neve Campbell was also on there and she looked great, probably had a little bit of filler, botox but had not gone overboard on it so did not have that weird look and eyes gone deepset from all the botox. Victoria Beckham also looks like has had cheek implants and lots done, such pressure on these women and think they get addicted to it. Have nieces in their early 30's and all their friends doing botox, lip fillers, etc starting too young and will have that weird look when they are older. Am 52 and don't really have eye wrinkles but would not mind small bit of filler around chin lines. But think once a person starts then they get sucked into doing more and more.

Meant to say was shocked when seen Kirsten Davies as she has ruined her face and looks bit weird. She was such a beautiful woman and not sure what she did. Too much filler around the mouth and lips and gives that weird scary look.

I think it’s the side effect of a face lift, it’s not a trend.

I know exactly what you mean! Looks very joker ish and creepy! I don’t know if it’s an actual procedure though or just the effect of other procedures

Just googled mouth widening surgery. It’s a thing. There’s even a surgical website advertising and detailing the procedure. Very odd look.

maybe as others have said it is a face lift. Sad that there is such pressure on women in society and social media and men do not seem to have the same pressure.

They’ve had so many fillers (in some cases facelifts as well) that they can’t not make that weird face.

Courtney has started to look more normal lately though, I think hers is fillers. I was thinking this exact this yesterday actually as my cousin has had fillers and looks like she’s in the black hole sun music video/

Yes I have been wanting to know that too for a long time. They just look wrong and weird. I think if you have a lot of loose skin to pull back for a facelift it may stretch the mouth a bit but not that much. Its like they now have these gaps on either side of their mouths with no teeth. So bizarre. Most of these women don't even need lip fillers. Its so ridiculous that they think having lips that look permanently swollen is attractive. Couldn't be further from the truth

The letter box mouth look is very strange,why wouldn't you just be happy with a normal sized mouth... weird.

D'you know, I think you might be right. Or at least, the proportions of her face have changed in ways that ... people's faces don't usually change. I suppose a ton of buccal fat removal could make your mouth look like it's wider?

God knows. As Ms Cox herself says, "You look in the mirror and go, 'Oh, that looks good,' you think, and you don't realize what it looks like to the outside person".
