Water infection help

I don't suffer with water infections, but goodness me I have one from hell. Burning, needing to pee all the time, low stomach ache and bizarrely backache. Got cystitis tablets and thrush cream. Lots of water and cranberry. Do I need antibiotics ? This is bloody awful. Any advice please

www.nhs.uk/conditions/urinary-tract-infections-utis/ Official advice here. Personal advice - take regular painkillers, drink loads of water, hot water bottle on tummy, give it a day or so. If it carries on/gets worse and you need to see the GP then take a mid-stream sample with you as many wont give antibiotics until your sample has been tested for the specific UTI.

Backache is pretty common, especially if it has travelled to your kidneys. Id get a sample tested to be sure

I had one over a weekend and rang 111 - they got a GP to call me who sent a prescription straight to the chemist so I could pick up antibiotics. I would have waited but was in a lot of pain - in my lower back too which I guess was kidneys. Hopefully some pharmacies are open this aft for you.

If you've got back ache I would be worried that it had gone into your kidneys (common) in which case you will probably need antibiotics. I'd ring 111.

Thankyou all so much. Hanging on the phone now to see if it's can get antibiotics. The pain in my back is awful. Hot water bottle and bed as soon as I can. I have a suppressed immune system so think it's worth the call. Thanks again x

I get terrible water infections. I have no further advice to add, just hope you feel better soon. Actually, I do I one piece of advice, go for a wee straight after sex and wipe front to back.

You can get 3 days of antibiotics on line via Boots or another pharmacy. I wouldn’t wait - it’s miserable if it takes hold.
