Am pickling my head with about 40 tabs open looking for self catering
accommodation!!

Any recommendations for any particular websites? Airbnb and Vrbo are ok but interested in any better recommendations.

Also any WW1 related sites in the area?

@hopeishere

Quite a few working farms have self catering accommodation (Btw instead of ‘Cotswolds’ you could also try Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Wiltshire in the search engines)

Try:

www.farmstay.co.uk

www.farmholidays.co.uk

Also:

www.owlpen.com (we had a lovely stay in the grist mill but there are other cottages and houses on this ‘secret’ estate)

www.church farm cottages.com

Should be:

And we are more Roman than WWI. But give me a minute...

There you go. I knew I'd read something about there being quite a few Thankful and Doubly Thankful places across the Cotswolds.

The only thing I can think of are the airport's, plane manufacturers around Gloucester, Cheltenham. They are business parks now but might make interesting reading.

hopeishere · 20/02/2022 12:02

Thank you so much!!

We stayed in one of these lodges in summer and they were really nice waterpark.org/places-to-stay/self-catering/

sudeleycastle.co.uk/cottages

Lovely place to stay, there's the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum in Gloucester for WW1 links.

hopeishere · 20/02/2022 17:14

@Peabody25 I've looked at the various bits of the water park- is it very crowded and massively busy??

Peabody25 · 20/02/2022 17:24

No we stayed in one bit that was literally just lodges but then could walk across a bridge over the river and there was the de vere hotel, a playground, tennis courts, mini golf, a cotswold outdoor shop and a lovely Italian. Then there were other sites that had the water activities on.

We also booked a day at the manmade beach and water park which was brilliant, about 15 mins drive from where we were. www.cotswoldcountryparkandbeach.com/

Had done lovely days out in bourton on the water and stow on the wold as well.

Very expensive but lovely. www.biburyfarm.com

Grantanow · 20/02/2022 18:00

We've been pleased with Classic Cottages.

TG23099 · 20/02/2022 19:45

We have stayed here a few times and it's lovely. Really great space for a family and in the beautiful village of Snowshill where Bridget Jones went for her Turkey Curry. Would highly recommend. country-idyll.co.uk/property/2-glebe-cottages/

Try Broadway Manor Cottages www.broadwaymanor.co.uk they have a couple of family sized cottages in the grounds if an old Cotswold Manor House, shared grounds but plenty of space and a few sheep, chickens and ducks to feed.

LowbrowVictoriana · 03/05/2022 08:16

Btw instead of ‘Cotswolds’ you could also try Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Wiltshire in the search engines

And Worcestershire! Some beautiful places e.g. Broadway are there.
