Is it just Britain where teens want to be in devices and computers and gaming every spare minute?

Or is this reflected across Europe too?

Not sure about Europe, but it's clearly become a big problem in China:

I live in a developing country where the internet is expensive and shit, and wages are low.
Teens are noticeably happier. They smile at you. They swim. They dance. They go to church.

It's a noticeable, in fact stark, difference.

What are we doing to our kids?

should get off MN and go to bed

I don't remember Gen X as teenagers being happy, smiley, skippy and going to church. We were all grumpy as fuck.

My Italian nieces and nephews are just as phone obsessed as British teens, so no, not just here.

The teenagers in our extended family who have grown up in France are no different to ours in that respect.

The Italian teens I know all like their mobile phones - don't hear them talk much about videogames but that might just be because the internet isn't always great in my (rural) village.

My South American little cousin is always posting on Instagram. (pouty selfies are universal Grin )

I was a teenager in the 1980s/1990s. I did not have access to the internet. I definitely did not go to church! I was a horrid gloomy goth and my parents used to have to tell me that I wouldn't melt in the sunshine and could I get out of my room!

I'm in Belgium and kids here are just the same.

LegsMiserables · 20/02/2022 11:57

Australia's the same too.

Jk987 · 20/02/2022 12:20

Just out of interest, is it mostly boys who love gaming or girls too?
