Turning down job offers?

What made you decide to back out? Did you trust your instinct?

I’ve been offered a job but I’m unsure about it. I got very poor vibes from the interview, (didn’t click with someone on the panel who I would be working with closely), and I’m not particularly pleased about getting the offer - quite surprised, really.

It’s a big company and I’ve heard some negative feedback as well as, tbf, good things.

I do feel like trusting my gut - don’t want to be stuck trying to make a go of something that’s potentially toxic. Confused

Definitely trust your gut. I turned down a job offer because the interviewers were incredibly formal and didn't smile at all and I didn't want to work with people who couldn't smile, let alone laugh!

So glad I found this. I've got the same dilemma and thankfully after reading this I'm definitely going to decline the offer

Of course you should trust yourself. An interview is a two way street, you are also working out if you’d like to work there.

I’ve been in a similar situation and told them that I didn’t think the ethos would fit with mine.

I've turned down two job offers since Christmas. Both times from people at companies I've worked with on projects recently. And no formal interviews required for either.

Both times I said it didn't work for me at the moment. One said, fine no problem. Second one said, fine but can we have another chat in a month or so.

To be honest, unless they are desperate to get YOU on board I doubt they'll give it too much thought.
