Driving lesson when dark

Hi,

Has anyone done driving lesson when it's dark?

I know it sounds silly because I need to learn to drive when it's dark. It's my third lesson and I have said yes to it.

I am now nervous now. I was better on my second lesson.
This instructor definitely throwing me in deep end.

It’s fine everything is lit up unless you’re on country roads it shouldn’t be much different.

Definitely do it, I learned to drive during daylight hours, passed my test, bought a car and started driving to/from work in October and it was only on my way home from work a few days later that I realised I’d never driven in the dark! I was a pretty confident driver and happy on country lanes and motorways / dual carriageways as I’d done a good range of lesson driving but had never been out in the dark. It was fine but if you can do lessons as night I think it would be good experience.

I learned mostly in the dark after work. Honestly I found it easier - you can see cars coming way easier because of the headlights!

My daughter had nearly all her driving lessons in the dusk or dark partly on unlit country lanes, and I think snow on her first one

You’ll be fine

I did lessons in Germany and you have to do a certain number in the dark there. I found it useful. Also eye opening to see how people disappear in dark clothing

Usually the instructor will book a lesson at night to get you accustomed to driving in the dark.
Mine did

I think it is a really good idea to get used to driving in different conditions - including the dark - but I think on the 3rd lesson is a bit early. For most folks, I know some super experienced / natural or instinctive drivers will say it is fine, but I think most learners have enough to concentrate on in the 3rd lesson without adding the extra challenge of driving in the dark.

It's not the deep end. It's just nighttime. Confused

You probably will not find it v different unless it is raining. That can make visibility poor and make it difficult to see road markings. Just slow down if that happens to give yourself more time to see what is what.
