I was a single parent when I had my daughter in 1991 and therefore was the only parent on her birth certificate. In 1995 I marries and my husband wrote a letter to thr passport office sayingbthat my daughter was taking his surname. No official documents like deed poll were required.she was thereafter known by his surname on her passport at school and even her NHS details were changed. she is to this day still known by that name. She is now getting married and has read that when she gives notice of marriage if her name is different on her passport to her birth certificate she needs to provide evidence of her name change or the marriage may not be allowed. What can we do?
