Nursery cost

Hi,

Is £10 per hour (for a 2 year old) fairly normal sounding? My childminder is finishing and she was charging £5 per hour and is brilliant 😭 So local alternatives are nursery’s and it’s hard to find prices without sending emails and waiting for replies. Which I have done! Just want to see what others to think.. thanks.

What area are you in? We paid £95 a day for a 2 year old in London which I thought was about as expensive as nurseries get.

£50.50 a day over 2 here or £240 for 5 days. Includes everything - food, nappies, wipes, milk if still needed, suncream etc. Under 2's 54.50 or 255 I think. South East.

@1TheCircle

Sounds like it’s pretty expensive then.

It’s an Outdoor Nursery. The ratio is 2 under 2’s to 1 adult which is nice.

I think the ratio is usually 1:3 at that age so that might explain why it’s more expensive.

I think nurseries don’t put prices on websites because they want you to come in and see them so they can hit you with the marketing info before you find out the cost. I used to work for a similar ish business and that was the reason. X amount per day/month sounds a lot written down but once they’ve seen how fabulous the place is it doesn’t seem so much.

So one of the forest school type nurseries? Yes they tend to be more expensive for some reason. Odd to charge by the hour and not for sessions though.

Yes it’s forest school, vegan snacks included.
Norfolk.

Have found another that is 15 min drive away for £66 8am-5:30. So that’s more like it really. That also includes food, nappies. It’s well recommended by lots of people. So probably worth the drive ..
