Tooth aching after temporary crown... is this normal?

I had the temporary crown fitted in a back molar a week ago. It seems to ache when I eat as my tooth seems to be sensitive to heat.

Is this normal, or should I contact the dentist?

My permanent crown is due to be fitted in a week's time.

It's normal as the root has had a bit of trauma from it all. Will ache for a wee bit

I had this with both my temporary crowns. I think its because nothing can settle down. Once you have your real crown you will be fab!

Thanks both. That is reassuring.

I had this with my temporary one and my permanent one,. I was worried because it took a good couple of weeks. My dentist said we may end up doing a root canal which did not impress me! Thankfully it settled and it's great now.
