Getting so frustrated

Nc and posting here for trafffic

I am looking for a new place to live as where I am just now is getting less and less manageable for me (disabled)

I am looking at both social housing and private let’s and possibly even considering buying perhaps a shared ownership scheme accessing various other schemes etc

I have been looking quite determinedly for about a month now

The market is incredibly tricky to work with at the moment but what I’m getting most frustrated with is the discrimination I am still facing as a potential private tenant who is on benefits.

I have never missed a rent payment in my life, I have a good credit history.

Social housing there Is very very little available. I’m often 75+ in the “queue” (bidding system)

I succumbed to trying the private market but the difficulty is I keep missing out and of course the letting agents aren’t allowed to tell me exactly why.

I think I can guess.

Can anyone suggest how I might be able to improve my luck?

Can anyone advise me on how possibly buying/shared ownership works? As the info I’m finding online is so confusing and often conflicting. I have tried speaking to organisations that are supposed to help with this stuff but either I can’t get through to them or they don’t seem particularly well informed themselves when I do.

Why does it have to be so complicated?

Anyone else in the same boat care to commiserate even?

So sorry you've had no responses, and also that I have no helpful advice as no experience of this. It sounds very difficult and I hope others can help you. There seem to be lots of retirement properties being built here, are developments like that an option for you?

Ah sorry, I misread your post! The 75+ was not about your age! 😂😂

I wonder if there is a specific board on here where there would be more posters who know about social housing and shared ownership schemes?
