What is wrong with my elbow?

I knocked my funny bone about three weeks ago and thought no more of it. Then I began feeling pain which got worse and worse, so I rang 111 who sent me for an X-ray. The X-ray came back clear and apparently I don’t have a fracture or break.

However, the pain is persisting, especially when I bend my arm. It’s fine when it is still. Then a few days ago I noticed a dent in the skin which has become bigger (photos attached). I have rang my GP who looked at and confirmed that the X-ray was clear, and the receptionist said I should ring 111 if the pain persists, but it feels like I’m just trapped in a loop with no one interested in finding out what is wrong.

I know I shouldn’t take medical advice from strangers, but has anyone experienced or treated similar? I don’t know whether to persevere in ringing 111 again or just hope it starts healing at some point.

Ouch elbows are painful, does it feel squidgy like there is fluid there

Thanks for responding, @MayThePawsBeWithYou

No, not squidgey. When my arm is straight it feels like a dent, and when I put my finger on it it feels like the exact point of my elbow. When I (painfully) bend my arm the ‘dent’ is filled by the bone.

Ooh thats odd. I broke my elbow and I know it different for everyone but I really think you would know if you had broken it as it was horrendously painful at the time and for weeks after. Might be worth going to see a physio because if xrays are clear for a break or a dislocation the NHS are not likely to be interested.

Thanks @Hellocatshome

I definitely don’t think it’s broken, because it didn’t hurt that much when I did it compared to other elbow bangs I’ve had.

It’s my right arm and I’m right handed, and I currently can’t write, type or pick up a glass properly.

I’ll have a look at physios.
