A friend of a friend died recently and we took in his two dachshunds until the rescue found them a home.

They were not house trained and although I am delighted they have now got a home my house is a mess even though I tried my best with them.

Can anyone recommend a carpet and rug cleaner that really works well - I think all the carpets and rugs need done and I have searched all the usual companies and makes online but would prefer a recommendation from someone.

My German Sheppard and lovely stray cat keep me quite busy, as they leave a mess eeevery single day, and I usually use just soapy water, but once every six months or so I contact ProLux Cleaning.

I hired one from HSS hire (if you have one of those near you) and it was excellent. I've also hired a rug doctor carpet cleaner but found that quite cumbersome to move around in comparison

We've got this Vax one:

www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07KBG1K94/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?psc=1&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&ie=UTF8

It is fairly heavy, though less cumbersome than the rug doctor ones you hire, and has coped well with all the things that come out of 2 small DC and a highly strung cat...

@satinheart can you do the stairs with that as well? (Mine really need doing...and my living room.)

SatinHeart · 08/03/2022 21:03

@Mumdiva99 Yep it's got a hand held attachment for curtains, upholstery etc that works on stairs. It's not quite as effective as the main machine but still pretty good.

Thank you.

I have a Bissel. Works great.
