We are going Friday.
Any tips other than avoid the gift shop 🤣

Bring your own food if you can. We had to wait almost an hour in the queue for food. It’s just crappy fast food too.

justinhawkinsnavalfluff · 12/02/2022 18:32

It was brilliant fun but I'd add avoid the overpriced cafe!!

LoseLooseLucy · 12/02/2022 18:32

Yes.
lifelongfrugaleer · 12/02/2022 18:35

Loiter at the back and don’t rush straight out of the great hall at the beginning
Take a pic nic and eat by the train d there are benches
The cafe is £££ and very busy but food is decent
Just get one butter beer as it’s very love/ hate
You can’t avoid the gift shop at the end , it’s massive and ££££ but some stuff is decent
The similar sweets are far cheaper in M&S
The buss from Watford gap station is £3 each and cash only when we went or was it card only. Take both sorry I forget

LikeSilver · 12/02/2022 18:36

Make sure you’ve seen everything you want to before you leave a room as you can’t go back

Eat the white chocolate ice cream Grin

Have a great time!

lifelongfrugaleer · 12/02/2022 18:37

The queue outside moves very quickly but you had to scan your own tickets,
Go to the toilet in the entrance orb they are ones just before the forest. Then the cafe

Nothing else jumps from memory

Redcrayons · 12/02/2022 18:37

Put coats in the cloakroom. The only outside bit was privet drive, the rest is inside and it’s really warm.

doodlejump1980 · 12/02/2022 18:37

Comfy shoes as you’ll be on your feet a lot! Try to do the outdoor lot photos in daylight, we were there in the dark and didn’t get the photos we wanted.

lifelongfrugaleer · 12/02/2022 18:38

Yy to can’t go back. And look up too

It’s brilliant but can take hours. We took about 6 both times, including q for food which was long and slow

lifelongfrugaleer · 12/02/2022 18:42

Now ds liked the butter beer it’s bit like cream soda but

TeenPlusCat · 12/02/2022 18:55

It is OK to dress up or wear HP themed clothes if you want to.

Capri3 · 12/02/2022 19:40

Butterbeer is very sweet, but fine if you ask for it without the cream on top. It just tastes like cream soda. The souvenir mugs that come with it are lovely too.

Apart from that, it depends on your budget. The interactive videos are great, and the gift shop is enormous.

user1471538283 · 12/02/2022 19:46

Take the train and then the bus to the place. It's cheap, frequent and drops you right outside.

The cafe is expensive and limited. The butterbeer is revolting. The gift shop is expensive but we got a Hedwig mug and a scarf that were not too expensive. If you are going with little ones ask to open the doors to the Great Hall or be first in.

It is a wonderful and interesting day out!

FitzChivarly · 12/02/2022 19:54

If you're going for a birthday treat, if the birthday person wears a badge you'll be given a harry potter birthday badge and most of the staff wish you happy birthday whilst you're walking round. You'll also likely be chosen to open the doors to the great Hall at the start!

We always eat somewhere local before we go to the studio, theres an entertainment park ie bowling and eating places not too far away or there's loads of nice pubs you can have a pub lunch at. That way you don't need anything whilst youre going round, but can always have some butter beer icecream which we all enjoyed.

Make sure you have lots of space for photos because you'll take loads and save room for photos at the end.

The gift shop is unavoidable but I always factor this in to our budget and there's things for all budgets.

ItsDisneyBitch · 12/02/2022 20:13

If you stand at the back of the great hall when they close the doors, you can pose against the doors like you are opening them with no one else in the shot. Usually they ask if it’s someone’s birthday and that person gets to open the doors you can replicate that.

If you don’t like spiders you can cut through the forbidden forest.

Take your own selfies in the train rather than pay for them.

Share the butterbeer it’s rank but the ice cream is nice.

As well as the green screen bits there are other bits you can join in on that you don’t have to pay for like the broom, sitting at hagrids table.

And get a passport so you can count the snitches and get stamps - if they have opened that back up again not sure it was paused due to covid.

And do say if it’s someone’s birthday they can get a badge.

Any other questions give me a shout I’ve been about 13 times through work but it never gets old!

pupcakes · 13/02/2022 22:56

Don't avoid the gift shop- it's fantastic, some things are really pricy but most things are exclusive to the shop and some are sooo good- we got wands last time, zero regrets!

Have fun- try the butterbeer, it's part of the experience- don't rush through the zones as you can't go backwards - take your own food!

ExtremelyDelighted · 13/02/2022 22:59

I agree with only buying one butterbeer till you've all tasted it, we thought it was rank.

stinkycheeseman · 13/02/2022 23:03

The whole place is a gift shop. Brace yourselves.

TeenPlusCat · 14/02/2022 08:07

What kind of job do you do that you get to go to HP 'for work'?

canary1 · 14/02/2022 08:10

Buy one butterbeer between all of you. It’s interesting to taste, and take a photo drinking it. But there’s no way you’ll all drink on each!!

ItsDisneyBitch · 14/02/2022 15:53

@TeenPlusCat I do bits of their advertising so get to go to the press events.
