Ebike for commuting

I'm not a cyclist but I quite fancy an ebike for getting to work. It's a 15 mile trip one way so would take far too long on a normal bike (I wouldn't make it!) but how long would it take on an ebike?

Does anyone do this year round or does it get a bit much in winter?

I'm quite clueless on how you charge the battery. Can you remove the battery and charge it at a normal socket?!

They aren't much faster than cycling, just less effort. If you can't pedal at all they aren't very quick at all.
Why not take your test for a moped? Quicker, less desirable to thieves (oddly), and will still get you home when you are too tired to pedal.

Oh that's disappointing. Google maps reckons this journey is 1hr20 by bike so was hoping to shave 30 mins off to make it a viable option. Quite keen on getting more exercise too and would struggle to park a moped on our road but it's a good shout.

I'm cursed with cars, the garage bills just depress me so looking for an alternative. I know that ebikes can have costly repairs though.
